If asked what three things define you, what would you say? Your spiritual beliefs, your principles and what you generally stand for may make the top of your list. These things define you, give you a sense of direction and dictate most, if not all that you do.
Now, you meet tall, dark and handsome, or slim, fair and sexy. They tick all you’ve been socialized to like, but, they don’t share your beliefs. Their principles are the exact opposite of your own. Or they totally disagree with all that you stand for.

The scared part of us says to overlook this. That no one is perfect and so we should learn to accept others. The snarky part of our brain says, ‘If you want to date someone exactly like you, why not just date yourself?’ Whatever voice in our head that’s the loudest, that’s the one we tend to follow.

We are not only physical beings, we are also spirit, soul and body.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

‘May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The physical/ flesh is the most vocal, yet fickle aspect of who we are, yet we give it the most leeway to dictate what we do. We give someone a chance because of how they look.

But there is a hierarchy to our total set up. The spiritual, the soul, then, the body. In that order. Meaning compatibility of the spirit and soul trumps the physical. Who they are inside is important, really does matter the most.

So, the next time, you want to compromise, remember what defines you, what your priorities are.
